Our Service is provided by a Medical Team comprised of Clinical Support Workers, Integrated Healthcare Assistants, Urgent Care Staff Nurses, Urgent Care Practitioners, Urgent Care Practitioner Prescribers, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and GPs.
Who does what?
Clinical Support Workers
- Deal with general enquiries
- Book patients in to the service
- Take observation’s
- Support nursing staff
Integrated Healthcare Assistants
- Book patients in to the service
- Take observations
- Perform extra skills such as taking ECGs performing Blood Sugars, urinalysis and pregnancy test
- Venepuncture
- Performing Point of Care testing such as D dimer for DVT and CRP testing for infection.
- Minor wounds and dressings
Staff Nurses
- Venepuncture
- Treat Wounds and bites
- Give injections such as tetanus
- Administer medication to help control pain and fever whilst waiting.
- Assist nursing staff
Senior Staff Nurse / Development Urgent Care Practitioner
Will assess, triage and redirect patients to the appropriate level of care, whether that is ascertaining that you are safe to wait, calling an ambulance or directing you to ED.
They will also administer emergency medication and support the nursing staff.
Urgent Care Practitioners
These members of staff have a wealth of experience and will see, treat, prescribe (where necessary) and discharge patients following assessment.
